Feis Choláiste Phádraig

An tseachtain seo caite, d’eagraigh Coláiste Phádraig feis i bpáirt leis an mbunscoil. Bhí ar na cailíní dán a rá, agus chan cuid dóibh amhráin iontacha agus chas cuid eile dóibh rince dúinn ar an árdán. Tháinig formhór na gcailíní ón gcéad agus ón dara bliain, le cúpla cailín ón idirbhliain, ón gcúigiú agus ón séú bliain. Bhí trí dhuais le buachaint agus corn don bhuaiteoir. Bhuaigh Danielle MacSweeney ón dara bliain an comórtas, tháinig Abi O’ Farrell ón dara bliain sa dara háit agus thóg Klaudia Kumurkiewz ón gcéad bhliain an tríú háit. Bhí boinn do gach duine a ghlac páirt sa rud iomlán. Dúirt na cailíní óga dán álainn darb ainm An Gadaí, le Máire Áine Nic Gearailt. Chas Sarah Murphy ón gcéad bhliain cúpla port dúinn ar na píopaí uilinn agus bhí sí ar fheabhas, mar a bhí na rinceoirí ón idirbhliain agus ón gcéad bhliain, Naomi Quinn, Natasha Martin agus Amy O Neill. Freisin, rinne na cailíní ón séú bliain an damhsa Ballaí Luimnigh. Chan muintir na bunscoile amhrán de chuid Adele, a bhí athscríofa i nGaeilge, comh maith le damhsa a dhéanamh agus an fheadóg mhór a sheinmt. Táimíd an-bhuíochasach dá múinteoirí, an bheirt Ms Coughlans, as ucht a bheith ag obair leo agus á n-ullmhú don bhfeis. Agus, bhí an-chuid oibre déanta ag roinn na Gaeilge, Ms Troy, Ms Kelleher agus Mr Twomey, a chaith an mhí ar fad roimh thús an chomórtais ag ullmhú agus ag obair go dian leis na cailíní ar fad le cinntiú go raibh Feis Choláiste Phádraig den scoth. Ba mhaith linn buíochas ar leith a ghabháil le Ms Humphreys a thug an halla dúinn i mbunscoil Phádraig.

St Patrick’s College recently organised a Feis in conjunction with the girl’s primary school. The students had to recite, sign, dance or play a musical instrument. The girls were mainly from 1st and 2nd year, with a number of girls from TY, 5th year and 6th year also participating. There were three prizes on offer with a trophy for the winner. Danielle MacSweeney form 2nd year won the overall prize, Abi O’ Farrell of 2nd year took 2nd prize and Klaudia Kumurkiewz of 1st year took 3rd prize. There were medals for all who participated. Many girls recited poems, a favourite was An Gadai. Sarah Murphy of 1st year was very impressive playing the uileann pipes as were the Irish dancers from TY, Naomi Quinn, first year Natasha Martin and Amy O Neill and Leaving Cert. The 6th Class girls from St Patrick’s girls sang an Adele song, which was translated into Irish as well as dancing and playing the flute. Thanks to their teachers the two Ms Coughlan’s for working with them to prepare them for the Feis. Well done to Ms Troy, Ms Kelleher and Mr Twomey for the hard work they put into preparing the 1st and 2nd year girls. Thanks also to Ms Humphrey’s for allowing us to use the St Patrick’s Girls primary school Halla.
